SEPA Suite

At the beginning of 2012, the EU Parliament resolved to end national payment methods as of 31 January 2014 with the adoption of the SEPA Regulation and the implementation of SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area). This is the payment area for cashless payment transactions in EURO with uniform legal norms and infrastructures. The harmonisation of European payment transactions requires a conversion of processes and technical interfaces in almost every company. The icubic SEPA Suite supports banks and insurance companies in this process and simplifies the implementation.

What changes will occur?

Account numbers and bank identification numbers will be replaced by IBAN and BIC codes. In addition to the IT changes resulting from this, all forms must also be updated. SEPA payment transactions will include two payment types: the SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT) and the SEPA Direct Debit (SDD). The new ISO 20022 XML format will replace the national message format (e.g. DTAUS) for the transfer of data between banks. Previously used direct debit mandates will be replaced by strictly formalised SEPA mandates. This means that mandate administration will also be necessary.

Where will the changes occur?

Various areas will be affected in each company ranging from purchasing and sales to the internal accounting department to human resource management. Each of these departments must convert their payment processes to SEPA Credit Transfers and SEPA Direct Debits. Particularly the SDD (SEPA Direct Debits) bring about significant process changes.
